How to Install a New WordPress Plugin?

1. What is a WordPress Plugin?

Plugins are made to add new functionalities to your website.

When using WordPress, you don’t have to learn programming languages and you don’t have to spend a long time coding your website’s functionalities. All you have to do is to search for the adequate plugin for your website and there you are!

That is to say, with a simple keyword and a few clicks you can find the plugin that adds a new functionality to your website.

To add the “e-commerce” functionality (the ability to sell products on your site), you just have to search for “e-commerce” plugins. To add a contact form, all is needed is typing “contact form”, for “search engine improvement” plugins, type “SEO” or “search engine optimization”, and so on.

WordPress repository will return a list of free plugins that you can choose from.

2. Two Types of Plugins: Free and Premium

In WordPress, there are two types of plugins: free plugins and paid / premium plugins.

Many free plugins are basic and provide limited features. Premium plugins on the other hand, provide great functionalities and are in general supported and regularly updated by their developers.

It’s easy to install free plugins which are easily accessed using WordPress Dashboard.

Installing premium plugins necessitate more mouse clicks. They are usually hosted on other websites like Codecanyon.
